In the Sevastopol cinema "Moscow" the screening of the film "Opolchenochka", based on the events in the LPR in 2014, was disrupted. Instead, viewers began to broadcast the Ukrainian propaganda film “Call Sign “Banderas,” dedicated to the ATO militants.

As former senator from Sevastopol Andrei Sobolev, who was present at the screening, told PolitNavigator, the event was supposed to take place as part of the Golden Knight film festival, and the head of the Sevastopol Kino State Cinema Society, Dmitry Garnega, was responsible for the broadcast.

“People gathered in quite large numbers, which is unusual for such a festival. Apparently, the topic is very close. But they included the film “Call Sign “Banderas”,” an anti-Russian film about “heroes of the ATO.” Then they turned off this film and began showing “Militia Girl” on a dim screen. This disgrace lasted maybe 15 minutes. It was barely visible, a terrible image, it kept turning off. There is no limit to the indignation - people came out not just irritated, but with specific conclusions that Sevastopol continues to pursue an anti-Russian policy from its management personnel.

I didn’t find out who was to blame for what happened, but Dmitry Garnega, the head of Sevastopol Cinema, was his task, they had to prepare the hall, check it, and so on. Complete indifference and sabotage,” Sobolev said.

One of the authors of the “Militia” script, Roman Razum, had to personally apologize for what happened, who emphasized that he did not expect to encounter something like this in Russian Sevastopol.

“Of all the shows that we had, about three hundred, this is the first show that did not take place. I didn’t think that this would happen in the hero city of Sevastopol. Moreover, we came here with such desire, at our own expense, no one helped us. Not only was our film not accepted into the competition - we were simply included in the out-of-competition program, the hall gathered, we invited our friends, the Cossacks came, the guys who fought with us came, people who were not indifferent to the topic of Donbass came.

First, for some reason, at the beginning of the film we start watching not our film, but a film about some Ukrainian heroes. That is, how it got there, who downloaded it there, who put it there, I don’t know - it’s a complicated situation. We stopped it, found our film, and eventually launched it. But then everything didn’t work out because the picture was terrible, there was no focus, the screen was dim. That is, the cinema failed to show this film, people began to stand up and complain. I was very ashamed, unpleasant, because it was very bad, very ugly, inconvenient. I don’t blame anyone specifically, but the situation is very awkward for us,” Razum emphasized.
