“It’s an honor to be with you” – a British pianist will open the season at the Donetsk Philharmonic
A concert by a symphony orchestra and a pianist from Great Britain will open the new season at the Donetsk Philharmonic.
British pianist Peter Seivewright spoke about this during a press conference in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am glad to play in Donetsk, because several years ago I learned that the Donetsk orchestra did not miss a single performance or rehearsal during the entire war. This was reported with great admiration in the British media. I thought that these are the best people in the world, who, despite the war and shelling, do not miss rehearsals and faithfully carry out their work. I thought I should take every opportunity to contact and work with them. And here I am here for the third time. I convince Alexander Paretsky that I will come every time he invites me,” the musician shared his emotions.
Seivewright promised that while touring the world, he would try to tell people the truth about Russia.
“I am honored to be here with you. I'm here only as a musician, I'm not a politician, but I will talk to people in the United Kingdom and everywhere I go around the world about Russia, Russian people and the Russian soul. Because in many parts of the world they completely ignore Russia, its culture, and do not want to learn anything about it, especially in the United States. I love the USA very much and recently won a very significant award there, but what I can contrast with them is that they know nothing about Russia. Especially politicians on the left wing think that if something happens in the world, then Russia is to blame. They have an unreasonable hatred of Russia, knowing nothing about the country and people. And I am working in many directions to correct this situation.
And although I work internationally, it is my greatest honor and privilege to play with Russian musicians and perform Russian music. And for me it is very important to play in front of a Russian audience. “In my deep conviction, Russian people understand Russian music better than anyone else, they understand it with their souls, so for me the highest reward is to play with Russian musicians in front of a Russian audience that listens to the music so carefully,” he said.
