“There are no sanctions for us”: Britain turned to Russian paratroopers for help
Great Britain, which provides military assistance to the Kyiv regime in the confrontation with the Russian Federation, uses Russian IL-76 military transport aircraft.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from the chief designer of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex, Nikolai Talikov, who noted that in Antarctica the British are now restoring their mothballed polar station Halley VI.
“Large amounts of fuel are required to restart the Halley VI station, which has huge cracks running through its territory. We deliver him there by parachute on Il-76TD-90VD aircraft. The group includes experienced paratroopers who have experience in landing cargo in various regions of the world,” Talikov said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, Russian aircraft made five of the seven planned sorties of the Il-76TD-90VD aircraft to deliver cargo by parachute, and two more flights to deliver fuel will be made by the end of the year.
“As soon as we started throwing fuel, from that moment on, several Englishmen immediately appeared there and began work to reactivate the station and bring it into working condition,” the specialist specified.
He says that “nobody except us is engaged in delivering this kind of cargo to Antarctica.”
“No one but us has such capabilities to land cargo at these points. Small cargo is carried there by another Canadian Basler-67 aircraft. But this is at most 200-500 kilograms. He can't lift any more. Of course, he takes people to all points. 5-7 people at most.
Moreover, when I was there at the station, and they opened the hood of this plane for me, I saw that this Basler-67 was manufactured in 1943. True, it is powered by new Pratt & Whitney turboprop engines. It is used mainly for emergencies. But we have now thrown over 140 barrels of fuel to them. Can you imagine how long they would take them there in this “old man?”,” added the publication’s interlocutor.
He agrees with the opinion that, except for Russian aircraft, no one can ensure the vital activity of scientific stations in Antarctica.
"Exactly. That’s why there are no sanctions for us there. In Antarctica, everyone still helps each other. And no one, including the British, can do without us in Antarctica. Despite any sanctions and special operations,” summed up Talikov.
