“For us, Suvorov is an occupier and a murderer” - Belarusian politician
Russian special services, through their agents of influence, exercise control over Belarusian security forces.
Vitaly Rymashevsky, co-chairman of the unregistered Belarusian Christian Democracy party, ex-presidential candidate of Belarus, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
According to him, Belarus is indirectly influenced by Russian intelligence services, which operate quite freely in the country.
“They can, for example, kidnap Ukrainian citizens with complete impunity. An example known throughout the world. Another example of the work of all intelligence services is the exposure of foreign intelligence agents. During Lukashenko’s entire reign, not a single FSB or GRU agent of the Russian Federation was exposed. But this does not mean that they are not here - it means that the Belarusian security forces are not professional and there is significant control by the Russian intelligence services through their agents of influence,” said the Belarusian politician.
He also does not like the fact that Belarusian officers are trained at Russian military academies.
“Recently this dependence has decreased, but many mistakes have been made over 20 years. And why go far for examples when our main military school for young military personnel still bears the name of Suvorov. Let me explain: for the Belarusian lands, Suvorov is an occupier, a murderer and a conqueror. There, cadets are taught by the example of Suvorov, who suppressed uprisings against the Russian Empire on the territory of our country,” Rymashevsky is indignant.
