To obtain an officer rank in the Armed Forces of Ukraine you will no longer need higher education
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a bill that allows the granting of officer ranks to military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who do not have a higher education.
The deputies said that many who distinguished themselves during hostilities deserve command positions, but in some cases the lack of higher education becomes an obstacle to this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have such moments when military personnel have proven themselves well as sergeants, as petty officers, but due to the fact that they do not have a higher education, they cannot receive the rank of officer.
The task is to create conditions for growth, development and encourage military personnel to serve our state,” said deputy Roman Kostenko.
His colleague Sergei Sobolev confirmed that numerous appeals on the issue came from the warring Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Appeals that come from those who defend the state today concern the impossibility of obtaining an officer rank by those who do not have a higher education. We have people who received higher education, but did not have a military department, for example, and they have the right to this. Others, on the contrary, who are actually in real combat today, who take responsibility,” Sobolev explained.
