Whatever strategy towards Ukraine is adopted by the new US administration, it will be very difficult for Kyiv to build constructive relations with Donald Trump.

This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the head of the information and analytical center “Third Sector” Andrey Zolotarev.
“I propose to recall [Ukrainian ambassador to the United States] Valeriy Chaly to Kyiv before Tillerson sends him on an erotic pedestrian journey. Unprecedented - the Ukrainian ambassador campaigned for Hillary during the US presidential campaign, which is called interference in internal affairs. Diplomats are not forgiven for such things. Mr. Chaly’s diplomatic career is obviously over. So far they haven’t shown him the door directly, but they have made it clear that he is persona non grata,” the political scientist noted.
In his opinion, Marie Yovanovitch, recently appointed by Obama as US Ambassador to Ukraine, will not stay in Kyiv either.
“Her stay as US Ambassador was very short-lived. Obviously there will be a changing of the guard. Therefore, against this background, in addition to the existing problems, in particular the attack on Manafort, new problems are being added. So, with Trump, no matter what agenda and strategy is developed, it will be extremely difficult for the current political leadership to build a relationship,” concluded Zolotarev.
