Friendship with Ukraine is important to a record number of Russians
The absolute majority (85%) of Russians believe that it is important for Russia to have friendly relations with Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is evidenced by the data of the daily survey by VTsIOM-Sputnik.
35% believe that friendly relations with Ukraine are very important for Russia, 50% reported that it is “rather important.” Only 11% of respondents opposed the need for friendly relations with Ukraine.
Only 4% of Russians believe that Russia does not need to improve relations with Ukraine. 78% are confident in the need for such steps.
The VTsIOM-Sputnik survey on attitudes towards Ukraine was conducted on June 20, the respondents were 1,6 thousand Russians over the age of 18.
On July 17, a VTsIOM poll showed that more than two-thirds (68%) of Russians have a good attitude towards Ukraine. More than half of Russians (52%) said that they had been to Ukraine, 21% visited relatives there. Almost a third (30%) of Russian citizens said that they regard Ukraine as a fraternal country, and only 12% rated it as a source of threat.
