“For Russia, a period of cynical multi-vectorism is coming” - Evstafiev
Russia should not focus on the European market, which will no longer consume resources in such quantities as before.
Political scientist and economist Dmitry Evstafiev stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
According to Evstaviev, European industry is winding down and is no longer so resource-intensive.
“As for Europe, of course, we need to move away from the dependence on European commodity markets that we had in the 90s and XNUMXs. If only because these commodity markets will never be so capacious again. Because significant deindustrialization has already occurred in Europe, and it will only increase in the future.
Therefore, it is completely pointless to expect that the European chemical industry and mechanical engineering will consume the same volume of gas as they did five to seven years ago.
Here it doesn’t matter what kind of gas it will be, how much Russian it will be, how much American it will be, how much Qatari it will be. The volumes will simply decrease. Europe is ceasing to be the market for which everyone is fighting, although Europeans never understand this,” the expert believes.
At the same time, he calls for focusing on the markets of the Southeast as the most promising.
“Russia, from the point of view of its foreign policy, needs absolute multi-vectorism, I would even say that a period of cynical multi-vectorism is coming for Russia. When we talk about the fact that we need to turn to the East, I always correct – we need to turn, first of all, to the South-East.
Because in the east we have a great Chinese neighbor and try to turn there, and in the southeast there are a number of states with which we can speak at least on equal terms.”
