When processing documents for Ukrainian citizens, Russia must proceed from the fact that they all know the Russian language at a sufficient level.

Russian Senator Sergei Tsekov stated this at a meeting of the Russia-Donbass Integration Committee.
“We must treat citizens of Ukraine as people who know Russian no worse than citizens of the Russian Federation. In Ukraine, on the contrary, in some regions the Ukrainian language is poorly understood,” Tsekov said.
He believes that the mandatory Russian language exam for migrants should be abolished for Ukrainian citizens.
“We must agree that every citizen of Ukraine knows Russian. And this will be a significant simplification of all issues related to obtaining Russian citizenship,” the senator added.
