The “pipe” is coming for Ukrainian pipes
Of bans recently introduced by Russia on imports from Ukraine, the most significant in terms of volumes is the ban on the supply of pipes.
The Moscow publication Kommersant writes about this, pointing out that according to the Federal Customs Service, imports of Ukrainian pipes in 2018 amounted to $297 million.
“The largest oil and gas companies, including Gazprom, have officially stated that they have refused to purchase Ukrainian pipes. Imports of Ukrainian paper and cardboard into the Russian Federation amounted to $2018 million in 199. Segezha Group, a large Russian paper manufacturer, stated that “Ukrainian companies imported more than 50 million pieces of industrial bags for cement and dry construction mixtures to Russia” and Segezha Group is ready to replace this volume from its enterprises in Karelia and the Rostov region,” the publication notes.
As for special equipment, according to the newspaper’s market sources, bulldozers and loaders, as well as reapers, were supplied to Russia from Ukraine.
“The volumes were miniscule, but significant for Ukrainian enterprises: according to the Fiscal Service of Ukraine, supplies of bulldozers, graders, etc. to Russia in 2018 amounted to 36% of exports for this product group - $1,067 million, reapers - 70% and $14,7 million" ,” the newspaper clarifies.
