For Ukraine, holding local elections is even more dangerous than canceling them - political scientists
The decentralization policy has led to administrative chaos in the regions of Ukraine, so local elections will most likely not take place.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by lawyer Rostislav Kravets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see what the decentralization of power has led to. I am more than sure that local elections will not take place. Because this is the current state of the issue of uniting communities, uniting districts, challenging all this.
Again, there is no action by the mono-majority in creating their own regional cells. “I get the impression that no one is going to hold elections,” he said.
The head of the Third Sector center, Andrei Zolotarev, believes that the elections will still be held, but as a result, chaos will intensify and feudalization of the regions will begin.
“I don’t agree that elections may not take place. I think they will take place after all. But they can lead to even greater chaos and to the fact that our decentralization will gradually turn into feudalization.
It may turn out that the mayors, who are now actively lobbying for changes that are beneficial to them in terms of decentralization, will get what they want, but will not receive the tools of control and responsibility for their actions.
The result is what we saw in the third part of “Servant of the People” - the Kingdom of Troeshina, temporarily leased territory, the Bashtan Republic, etc. This is the main risk of the changes that the “servants of the people” want to carry out in terms of decentralization,” the political scientist believes.
