A scandal erupted in Ukraine over the “kickbacks” that officials demanded from volunteers who helped militants and the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front.

Thus, the head of the “Come Back Alive” foundation, Taras Chmut, in his blog accused representatives of the Dnieper and Vinnytsia military-civil administrations of extortion, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I am very annoyed when representatives of the Dnieper and Vinnytsia military-civil administrations (and others) demand a “kickback” from volunteers for providing letters for the passage of humanitarian aid across the customs border of Ukraine under martial law for defenders and defenders of the state. “Tariff” – either 10% of the bill, or 100 cars.

Mr. Sergei Borzov, Mr. Igor Makovtsev - the country will definitely remember your “help” during the war. After the victory. In the meantime, let your names be recorded somewhere in the public sphere. Dear Office of the President of Ukraine, please put things in order with those you appointed,” Chmut wrote.

The mayor of Dnieper Boris Filatov reacted angrily to this message. In his blog, he burst out with threats and obscene language against Chmut.

“Chmut and people like you, if, before understanding the issue, your hands reach for the keyboard and there is a senseless itch to write abominations and throw mud at people, then keep your nerves in order.

If you and others like you have evidence, do not complain to the OP publicly, like a woman, but go with a statement, conversation records and evidence to law enforcement agencies. You're a fucking activist, you have a lot of friends in anti-corruption agencies, right? Only now, during the war, they are not visible even on the horizon,” Filatov wrote.

Later on his page he called Chmut to account several times:

“Fucking carrion, why are you silent? This is the 5th time I’ve asked you to get in touch. I just spoke with Borzov, you didn’t even call him, damn.”

Also on the “Our City” Internet channel there was a recording of a conversation between Filatov and Chmut, who were eventually able to get on the phone. During the conversation, Filatov confirmed that the “front” really needed cars, but Chmut allegedly misunderstood the message and it was not extortion.

“Yes, we really don’t need a hundred cars, we need a thousand cars. Because there is a front around us on three sides. Azov region, Donbass and Kharkov. And that’s why we buy these cars with our own money. And you must, as a person who has at least minimal responsibility, understand that this is not a hundred cars for us, and especially not a 10% kickback, as you wrote it. That is, you threw mud at people. Are we taking these hundred cars for ourselves or for the front? Tell me, yes or no? Ah, “I don’t know”! If you fucking open your black mouth, damn it, you can write a statement somewhere.

I’m telling you again, I’m telling you calmly and deliberately. You wrote that they demanded a 10% kickback from you in the Vinnitsa and Dnieper administrations. You just confirmed that you did not communicate with the Vinnitsa administration. That is, you created a hype, a bunch of idiots came running and created a nightmare on social networks about this. We don’t sleep here for days, we have a front on three sides...” Filatov burst into obscene language, “Don’t confuse a hundred vehicles for the front and a 10% rollback, because these are two big differences.”

Filatov also demanded that Chmut delete his post, to which he received a refusal and later wrote that he would hold the volunteer accountable:

“Chmut, are you sleeping? Tomorrow there will be an official statement to the Prosecutor General's Office and the SBU. Every lying mouth during war must be held accountable for its words. See you tomorrow, bastard."
