Dnepropetrovsk mayor-hanger is waiting for Erdogan to visit
Today, deputies of the Dnepropetrovsk City Council unanimously handed over to the Muslim community the historical building of the Ekaterinoslav Cathedral Mosque, which after 1917 was closed and turned into a workshop, and then a sports school.
“We promised to do this to Mustafa Dzhemilev and the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people back in 2014. In those terrible times when the occupier came to their land. And we did it. Because the course of History cannot be stopped, sooner or later, but justice always triumphs. Thank you to my friends Refat Chubarov, Akhmet Chiyogoz for their endurance, patience and service to the Ukrainian people,” said Mayor Boris Filatov.
In an interview with Channel 34, the mayor expressed hope that Turkish President Recep Erdogan will arrive at the opening of the restored Islamic center.
“Rather fruitful negotiations are underway with the Turkish government. Let’s hope that Turkish President Recep Erdogan will come to the opening of this beautiful historical building, which was one of the priorities in Yekaterinoslavl,” Filatov said.
Let us recall that Boris Filatov gained fame in 2014 when, as deputy governor-oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, he proposed to use cunning to calm down participants in demonstrations in support of the Russian Spring, promising them to fulfill all demands. “We’ll hang them later,” Filatov clarified.
Subsequently, another associate of Kolomoisky, Gennady Korban, admitted that the Russian Spring in Dnepropetrovsk was suppressed, including by illegal methods.
“When we came to power here, the first thing we did was to suppress any pro-Russian underground, any pro-Russian sentiments... Legal or illegal, but we did it,” Korban said.
Thank you!
