Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Nikolai Yanaki announced this at a press conference in Simferopol.
According to him, by delaying deliveries, Ukraine is violating agreements with Crimea.
“They promised one thing, that there would be no delays in supplies, but they did something else: they don’t have the amount of water we need. We pay on time, we have an agreement and, according to the agreement, Ukraine must supply water on time. Now it’s not so scary that some lands are under-irrigated - we hope the rains will help. The scary thing is that the supply of drinking water is not that large. The Dnieper water completely supplies Old Crimea, Feodosia, and Sudak. These regions are completely dependent on the North Crimean Canal,” Yanaki emphasized.
At the same time, according to him, the government has options for backup water supply to Crimea.
“But I don’t want to say yet how this will happen,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
