“They drank during the day and shot in the evening,” as they remember the Ukrainian army near Donetsk

If in Donetsk you can still meet people who simply want peace and do not understand the reasons for the war, then in the front-line zone there are practically no such people. Here they believe in the victory of the militia. If in Donetsk, despite the constant bombing and the sound of cannonade, you can still find those whose houses are “on the edge,” then in the burned villages people cannot tell without tears what the Ukrainian troops have done. No matter how hard a person tries, it is difficult for him to remain neutral when war has come to his land.

On the way to Gorlovka near Komunarsk, the humanitarian convoy makes a stop at a small village. A grandmother hobbles along the side of the road with a stick. She looks at us in surprise and cannot understand why we are handing her a bag of food.

“I haven’t received a pension for four months,” says the woman, “there’s nothing to buy bread with, we’re sitting with our grandfather on the corn, the National Guard was catching chickens, they come and give us a burst from a machine gun: either we come to you with a search, or you bring it yourself, that’s all we had to do.” give."

Baba Valya says her area is relatively lucky. On the other side of the village there were fascists - she didn’t call the Ukrainian Armed Forces troops anything else - they set up towns among the houses and hit Komunarsk. Having knocked out the militia, they entered the city and for three days the people “katuvali” (translated from Ukrainian as “tortured” - author.), they especially abused the families of the fighters, their wives and children. How were they calculated? The neighbors rented it out. Unfortunately, this is war, and betrayal happens here.

“During the day they drank,” continues the grandmother, “and in the evening they start loading and shooting, shooting at Komunarsk, like some kind of nonhumans, why don’t they have mothers of their own?! Who did they raise?!”

In the field above the checkpoint flies a flag with the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. Underneath are trenches and a burnt-out Ukropov tank. All the militia are on edge. They greet the cars with their finger on the trigger. As it turns out, a sabotage group is operating in the area. Perhaps she is working under the cover of former police officers or SBU officers, who were tasked with sowing panic among local residents and blocking the highway to Gorlovka.

As Gorlovka proved, its militia knows how to fight. The Bes group successfully defended Slavyansk, and then the city itself. Upon entering, order is immediately visible. Factories and even the Stirol chemical plant, which was bombed, are working, minibuses and trolleybuses are running, but you won’t be able to go out into the street and photograph the city. The convoy escort warns, permission to film is issued by order of Bes, permits issued by the DPR do not work here.

They are rushing us. It is better to return to Donetsk before dark. In addition, there is a curfew in the republic, according to which any movement after 22-00 is prohibited. While the soldiers are carrying humanitarian aid out of the car, I manage to ask them a few questions.

- How is the situation? - I ask.

- Well, how? Constant battles, shelling,” answers a 27-year-old militiaman, “so everyone is already used to it, even the old people...

– I met older people in Donetsk who just want everything to end quickly and it doesn’t matter who wins...

– Well, there are some here too, but not many, because the war affected almost every family. Most of the men have taken up arms or are working; there are women on the front line, one came for her husband, another for her father...

– But the Ukrainian army has gathered huge forces around Gorlovka, and if in terms of the quantity and quality of weapons, then the forces are not equal.

“But they wanted to bury us for a long time and would have buried us, but the truth is on our side, and there are many of us!” They came to us, not we to them, they bomb and kill, they brought mercenaries.

– Do you mean specialists from NATO?

– Not only that, but dill have already lost up to 5000 mercenaries, most of them were from African countries. Five thousand for four months of fighting! And these guys are not used to big losses, but, apparently, Donbass is in their throats, and what kind of money is being thrown into the war. They are afraid: if the region starts working, Europe will be screwed. Let's crush its economy! There will be a Donetsk economic miracle!

Leaving Gorlovka, I caught myself thinking that Donbass itself is small, with steppes, factories and mines, but its main advantage is not in mineral resources, but in people who are ready to lay down their lives for their home and for the Russian world, despite the fact that the majority of Ukrainians live here.

There are battles in Gorlovka, as well as on the outskirts of Donetsk. It is difficult to get used to artillery salvoes. The Soviet army left the dill a huge amount of ammunition as a legacy, but who could have thought then that it would turn against its people. Looking at the militias and, especially, at the local women helping on the front line, you believe that Donbass will survive, even if all the mercenaries of this world are gathered against it. Let's see which of them can withstand the Donetsk steppe frosts.
