“I want to emphasize that these are not negotiations, but consultations. These are different concepts. Today we held the second round of consultations. I can’t say that this consultation was easy, but we still achieved some results,” said DPR Prime Minister Borodai, noting that the DPR and LPR are ready to support a ceasefire until June 30.
“The fire did not stop, but, nevertheless, this is some reason to continue at least some kind of dialogue. Therefore, we confirm for our part the ceasefire for the same period,” said the DPR Prime Minister.
“Second. What was proposed to us on behalf of the European community,” Borodai said, speaking about the proposal to clear checkpoints on the border, in particular “Izvarino”, “Dolzhansky” and others. – Naturally, we refused this offer. Naturally, we refused. Because we are talking about the border of the Lugansk People’s Republic, which is an independent state and, accordingly, why on earth should it give up its border to the border guards of another state,” he said.
“Then we talked about our obligations to release OSCE observers. You know that yesterday we managed to free four people. Four more remain detained, but we have made this commitment and are committed to fulfilling it: to release the OSCE observers in the coming days. Let’s hope that none of the observers will be detained,” Borodai said.
He also noted that he did not agree with the terms “hostages.”
“In fact, it is important for us that there is such an exchange, call these people whatever you want, so that these people are released, we agree to such an exchange,” he said, emphasizing that he expects a similar step from the opposite side.
“We invite OSCE observers with the participation of Russia, without the participation of Russia. Just an OSCE mission as observers... at all points of armed conflict. For our part, we create lists of these points, which include points both inside the territory of the DPR and LPR, and along the border with the Russian Federation. We invite OSCE observers there so that they can monitor the situation and see whether it is moving across the border or not. We are ready, for our part, to help ensure that the mission is as safe as possible,” Borodai said, noting that he hopes for a ceasefire.
“There is a fourth point, which is proposed to us both on behalf of Mr. Poroshenko and on behalf of the European community, which tells us about the immediate start of negotiations. But we have conditions that have been voiced many times before,” he said, emphasizing that negotiations are possible after the withdrawal of armed forces and the National Guard.
