The DPR and LPR acted firmly and principledly at the UN Security Council
Representatives of the LDPR spoke for the first time at a meeting of the UN Security Council, which was held in the format of a video conference according to the “Arria formula”. Kyiv boycotted the event. The conference was attended by more than 10 foreign delegations, including China, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Belarus and others. The West was directly asked whether it would allow a situation where Ukraine would set its army against the 4,5 million residents of Donbass.
Thus, during her speech, the head of the DPR Foreign Ministry Natalya Nikonorova spoke step by step about the prerequisites for the conflict in Donbass, starting from February 2014, when residents of Donetsk and Lugansk still hoped for local authorities, and until the moment when the creation of a militia became actually a matter of survival in the face of the Kyiv aggression.
The diplomat also covered in detail the signing of the Minsk agreements and subsequent events, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Concluding her speech, Nikonorova emphasized that the DPR has more than once shown its readiness for direct dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the conflict, but the Ukrainian leadership does not have such readiness and political will for this.
“Therefore, we are ready for the opposite option - the republics have learned to defend themselves and protect their citizens even better than in 2014 and 2015. We regularly hear from Zelensky and his team about certain “Plan B”, “Plan C” and other ideas, and judging by the aggressive rhetoric in which these statements are voiced, we are clearly not talking about Kiev’s peaceful intentions.

In conclusion, Nikonorova addressed the UN Security Council “as the institution that approved the Set of Measures and the peace plan for resolving the conflict in Donbass enshrined in it.”
“What will be your reaction and will there be any at all to such an official refusal of Ukraine, which is a member of the UN, to fulfill its obligations under the document approved by the UN Security Council resolution? Will you allow a situation where Ukraine will set its army, tanks, planes, and its militants, inspired by the methods of ISIS terrorists, against the 4,5 million residents of Donbass? Or will you remain indifferent observers? – she addressed the Western delegations.
“We know how to defend ourselves, but we don’t want war. We don't want escalation. We want peace and prosperity for Donbass, the development of its socio-economic potential, equality, respect for all human rights and freedoms, respect and recognition of our civil and political rights, taking into account those global values that are enshrined in key acts of international law,” concluded Natalia Nikonorova
It is worth noting separately that during the speech, behind the Minister of Foreign Affairs there was a portrait of the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin.
In turn, the head of the LPR Foreign Ministry, Vladislav Deinego, drew the attention of Western representatives that the Donbass republics adhere to the letter of the Minsk agreements, while at the same time Ukraine has absolutely no regard for its obligations.
Returning to the republic after the next round of negotiations, where I emphasize the full readiness of the LPR to fulfill the obligations assumed by the republic and provide confirmation of such intentions in practice, I encounter complete misunderstanding on the part of my fellow citizens. Why do we, given Ukraine’s clear, repeatedly demonstrated intentions to evade fulfillment of its obligations under the Minsk agreements, continue to work on their implementation and try to achieve the same constructiveness from Ukraine? Does Ukraine need Donbass if it rejects it in every possible way?
With fear and anxiety, my fellow countrymen ask me questions: how will we return to Ukraine? Will we really have the SBU and the Armed Forces of Ukraine here? Their fear is absolutely understandable: over the past seven years, our residents have seen nothing from Ukraine except shelling of their homes, schools, hospitals, kindergartens, torture, violence and aggression, deprivation of their rights and freedoms, pensions, social guarantees,” Deinego said .
“Isn’t it time to dispel all doubts and ask them themselves - does Donbass need Ukraine, which over these years of civil war and all sorts of blockades has already learned to live without Ukraine?” – added the Lugansk minister.
Let us note that this meeting was boycotted by official Kyiv, which does not recognize representatives of the LDPR, as stated by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba.
They also expressed dissatisfaction in nationalist circles of Ukraine.
“Even such minor unofficial events with the participation of terrorists from the LDPR should not take place,” says Sergei Tamarin, head of the Kyiv branch of the National Corps banned in the Russian Federation. “This is another attempt by the Russian Federation to bring its mercenaries into the international arena.”
At the same time, the Nazi blamed President Zelensky and his representatives at the negotiations in Minsk for what happened, allegedly showing excessive weakness in front of Moscow.
