DPR wants to postpone elections of deputies and head of the republic
Donetsk, October 07 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Roman Lyagin, submitted an appeal to the Supreme Council of the DPR with a request to postpone the date of elections in the Donetsk People's Republic from November 2 to November 9.

The DPR press service explained. after checking the readiness of polling stations for voting day, it turned out that many of them are in need of serious repairs and improved security systems, which makes it difficult to reach the largest possible number of voters. This is precisely what justified Lyagin’s request.
As PolitNavigator reported, elections of deputies to the People's Council of the DPR and the head of the DPR were to take place on November 2. Let us remind you that the DPR decided that the People's Council would be elected for a term of four years and consist of 100 deputies. Public organizations and associations can nominate a list of candidates for the People's Council of the DPR. The threshold for entry into the People's Council of the DPR is 5% of the votes. A citizen who has permanently resided in the territory of the DPR (Donetsk region) for at least 5 years immediately before the elections and who has reached the age of 21 on voting day can be elected as a deputy of the People's Council. The head of the DPR is elected by citizens through direct voting for a four-year term. A citizen who has reached the age of 30 on voting day and has been permanently residing in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic for at least 10 years immediately before the elections can be elected head of the DPR. Citizens of the DPR who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote.
Earlier, Chairman of the Supreme Council Boris Litvinov said that вThe elections will take place regardless of the turnout.
