Shut down under Ukrainian rule, over the course of several years of war the plant almost completely turned into ruins: the furnace stopped working, and unique and expensive equipment became unusable. The former owners did not consider it necessary to invest any funds in the enterprise, and with the outbreak of hostilities, they completely abandoned both the plant and its staff to the mercy of fate.

The enterprise received new life in June 2016, when the leadership of the republic introduced external management, and the Yuzovsky Metallurgical Plant appeared on the basis of the former DEMZ.

A PolitNavigator correspondent attended the plant’s launch ceremony.
