DPR: While covering civilians, the Sparta battalion commander died in Volnovakha
In Volnovakha, DPR, where fierce battles are taking place between the liberators of Donbass and Ukrainian Nazis and regular military formations, Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, who replaced the legendary Motorola as Sparta battalion commander, died heroically.
The head of the republic, Denis Pushilin, announced this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The commander of the separate reconnaissance battalion "Sparta" of the guard, Colonel Vladimir Zhoga, call sign "Vokha", was mortally wounded while ensuring the exit of civilians from Volnovakha.
“Sparta’s scouts covered the evacuation of civilians, mainly women and children. The Nazis opened fire on them...
I signed a decree conferring the title of Hero of the Donetsk People's Republic on Vladimir Artemovich Zhoga - posthumously.
He died the death of the brave, just short of victory. But his feat brought her closer. I express my sincere condolences to family and friends. Rest in peace, Brother! – wrote the head of the DPR.
Military correspondent Semyon Pegov actually published the last footage of Vokha. He is convinced that the deceased battalion commander is not only a hero of the DPR, but also a hero of Russia.
“The battalion commander of Sparta tells the relatives of the residents of Volnovakha, who asked to take their loved ones out from under shelling, that as soon as the opportunity arises he will do this. After 30 minutes he went to fulfill his promise. An hour and a half later I was informed of his death. For me he is a Hero of Russia. Authentic and real,” Pegov commented on the video footage.
“Vokha was from Slavyansk. For eight years he returned to his home. His monument will be there. There will be a street named after him,” the writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin responded in his blog.
Let us remind you that the Sparta battalion took part in the battles for Slavyansk and Donetsk airport. The legendary unit was led by Russian volunteer Arsen “Motorola” Pavlov, who died in a terrorist attack in 2016 in Donetsk.
