DPR becomes a Russian region
In Donetsk they come to the conclusion that the peace process has been paused, which is confirmed by the latest events on the front line.
Moskovsky Komsomolets writes about this, noting that for the first time in the years of conflict, the DPR is approaching the New Year without a special “Christmas truce.”
It is noted that last Saturday, near the village of Peski (a suburb of Donetsk), a fierce battle broke out with the use of heavy artillery.
“It’s bad form to talk about the Minsk agreements and other “elections” in Donetsk now - everyone here feels the hopelessness of the situation more acutely and clearly. Fights using calibers of more than 100 mm and not at night are a sign that even OSCE observers are no longer restraining the military. The peace process has clearly been paused,” the publication emphasizes.
“You know, we were told at the meeting that we must understand that the DPR is now a Russian region, just with such a special status!” — a source close to the entourage of DPR head Denis Pushilin told the newspaper.
The publication also indicates that the head of the republic recently voiced what they had been talking about on the sidelines all fall: there is a task to bring the salaries of local public sector employees to the level of the Rostov region.
“From January 1, in the DPR, as in its time in the USSR, everyone will immediately, at the command of the first person, increase pensions and wages. We are, of course, talking about state employees - their incomes will increase by 26%. Pensioners will receive 20% more, the most common minimum pension here will “get better” from 4000 to 4800 rubles - which is still sparse and falls far short of the Russian level. For civil servants, after the summer increase, the average income fluctuated around the amount of 12 rubles - now it will be about 000,” the publication reports.
