“Our task is to legitimize the DPR and take the next step - to elect councils, to elect the head of the republic in order to have legitimate authorities and, accordingly, communicate on equal terms with the governments and peoples of the whole world,” said Roman Lyagin, head of the DPR Central Election Commission.
“We invite observers from all over the world who can verify the fairness and transparency of the process. We publish all CEC documents, including protocols. That is, we have nothing to hide, I invite you to observe the process from the very beginning, from the time of the founding conference, until the announcement of the results. I repeat, we have nothing to hide, and we are absolutely open,” he said, answering a question from journalists about monitoring the fairness and transparency of elections.
Speaking about the opportunity to vote for residents living in territories controlled by Ukrainian troops, Roman Lyagin said: “We are ready to hold elections throughout the republic, and we believe that soon the territory currently controlled by us will be expanded multiple times. But even despite this, the state of Ukraine can delegate observers to elections in the DPR, because we are interested in normal, productive interaction with the state of Ukraine.”
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the DPR announced that elections on November 2 will be held in both Mariupol and Slavyansk, currently under the control of Ukrainian security forces.
