Australia only realized in 2021 that Russia had completed the construction of the Crimean Bridge
A number of Western states introduced new sanctions against Russia - in particular, the reason for them was the “news” about the construction of the Crimean Bridge.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Canada introduced new anti-Russian sanctions for the reunification of Crimea with Russia. All this demonstrates the painful stubbornness of official Ottawa in denying objective reality. There is only one recipe - we need to give up the illusion that the residents of Crimea, who voted to return to their native harbor, can be forced to abandon their historical choice.
Attempts by the Canadian authorities to dictate to sovereign countries how they should live and what values they should be guided by undermine the reputation of Canada itself, plunging it into confrontation with an increasing number of significant international players. The Russian Federation will not leave Ottawa’s current attack without a proper response, which is now being prepared.
In this context, we consider the decision of the PRC to impose sanctions against Canadian officials and structures for interference in the internal affairs of China justified", - she said.
Zakharova also spoke ironically about Australia, which also introduced anti-Russian sanctions.
“It’s really funny that sanctions are being introduced by a number of Western mainstream states. In particular, Australia, due to the fact that they learned in 2021 about the existence of the Kerch Bridge. This is already satire. I understand that Australia is very far away, but now there are media, mass media, social networks, communicators, messengers. It’s not like it would take several years to learn about such a large construction project. It gets to the point of being comical.
On the other hand, why are we surprised? If they were guided by the statements of official Kyiv that there would be no bridge, then they probably did not believe that it existed. Now it has come,” added the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
