It finally dawned on Kyiv students that they had jumped out on the Maidan
Two dozen students from Kyiv universities held a protest rally at the Verkhovna Rada against the new system of scholarships, which will lead to a significant reduction in the number of scholarship recipients.

The action participant was reminded that, according to bill No. 5130, which deputies voted for a week ago, the provision on paying scholarships to two-thirds of students is canceled and the concepts of social and academic scholarships are introduced. Only the best students receive the latter.
The protesters held posters: “Scholarship is a right, not a privilege,” “You bastards have found someone to save money on,” “Education is not a competition,” and others. They also chanted: “Scholarship is a right, not a privilege.”
“Already in 2017, with the adoption of the new budget, the Ministry of Finance’s dream may come true that not 2/3 of state employees, but only 45%, will receive scholarships. This means that in the end the percentage of scholarship recipients may be reduced to 25% or even 15%. Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko has already stated that this is necessary. We believe that this will reduce the accessibility of higher education, that in a few years there will be fewer specialists in Ukraine,” said picket participant Bogdan.
The students also showed a performance during which a man wearing a Sergei Marchenko mask took away books and other supplies needed for studying from a student.
