Water from the Kherson region reached Crimea

In Armyansk, water flowed through the North Crimean Canal.

By gravity, water from the Dnieper through the Kakhovka hydroelectric complex reaches the borders of Crimea, and then pumps must be turned on to pump it due to the difference in height. In the Nizhnegorsky region, the canal bed is blocked by an earthen dam to transport water from underground sources.

The Crimean government confirmed that water flows through the canal by gravity. The condition of the pumps and equipment does not allow the canal to resume operation. Renovations are pending.

On February 28, the Russian Ministry of Defense blew up a dam blocking the North Crimean Canal in the Kherson region. In 2014, the Ukrainian authorities erected it for a water blockade of the peninsula.
