Until October, the capital of Ukraine will be paralyzed by giant traffic jams
Due to the repair of the South Bridge, which was not carried out in the summer, but began during the autumn increase in traffic flow, Kiev residents are forced to stand in traffic jams for hours.
Vyacheslav Konovalov, an expert of the Euro-Patrol public campaign, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We should have done this in the summer, it wasn’t particularly hot this summer, that is, we could have done it. And now people have returned from vacation and found themselves caught in these traffic jams. If previously there was a traffic jam on average in the morning from the South Bridge to Pozdnyaki, now either from Boryspilskaya or from Kharkovskaya there is a traffic jam, and such a traffic jam is very disgusting. Accordingly, people go towards the Kirpy Bridge, Drahomanov and Grigorenko streets, Dneprovskaya embankment - they hang themselves, there are traffic jams,” the expert noted.
“And the roads are broken because the bridge is closed, you can’t get through it, and everyone goes to Patron to the Darnitsky Bridge. So this is the whole story. It’s the same with the Metro bridge - it also can’t handle the flow, there are traffic jams beyond Darnitsa,” Konovalov said.
Traffic on the South Bridge will be restricted at least until early October, when repair work is scheduled to be completed.
