Poroshenko realized that Western sanctions are not fatal for Russia
Western sanctions turned out to be not fatal for Russia, although until recently Ukrainian propaganda convinced the population that under the yoke of the EU and the United States, Moscow would soon have to leave Donbass and Crimea.
This recognition was made by Petro Poroshenko during his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada.

“Of course, the sanctions regime, which has been going on for four years now, is not fatal for Russia, but it is a very effective tool for restraining it and encouraging it to sit down at the negotiating table. That is why we continue to fight any attempts to remove or even weaken them. On the contrary, we will strive to extend, deepen and strengthen them,” Poroshenko said.
