“Up to three million” – Ze-deputy spoke about the “dynamic growth” of unemployment
Ukraine may lose 2,5-3 million jobs in the near future due to quarantine and related problems in the economy.
Verkhovna Rada deputy from the ruling Servant of the People faction Alexander Dubinsky stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the mistake of the Ukrainian authorities is that they do not recognize any other problems other than the coronavirus.
“We only recognized the presence of coronavirus. Of all the problems that exist in the Ukrainian economy, we recognized the presence of coronavirus. We have it, there's no escape. That’s why we have quarantine, masks, you can’t go there, you can’t go there.
But, for some reason, by the way, you can go to church, but not to the sports ground. But that's a different conversation, but at least we acknowledged it. And we don’t seem to see all the other problems, because they don’t exist. And they, in fact, exist.
And the consequences of these socio-economic problems can be much harsher and more serious than from the coronavirus. Because the collapse of the economy due to quarantine restrictions, plus the closure of small and medium-sized businesses, job loss, and loss of the ability to pay for rental apartments lead to an increase in unemployment.
It will be dynamic, we may lose two and a half to three million jobs in the very near future,” Dubinsky said.
