The daughter of UPA thugs raised her sons and grandchildren to continue killing Russians
In the Carpathian region, the daughter of Ukrainian militants from the UPA sent her children and grandchildren to continue the war with the Russians that her parents waged.
This is stated in the material of the TV channel “1+1”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
The plot tells about Anna-Motra (Anna-Matryona) Mariychyn from the Carpathian region - “born in a hiding place” the daughter of UPA thugs, which her relatives told her about only after reaching adulthood, providing preserved letters from her parents, who were forced to give up their newborn daughter in order to “continue fight against Soviet occupation."
Anna-Motrya was born from Bandera members Grigory and Maria Vatseba - “he is a rebel guide, she is an underground typist and nurse” in August 1950 and was transferred to other hands. Almost a year later, the nationalists were liquidated by the Soviet secret services. Both parent families will end up in Siberia.
It goes on to tell how the heroine of the plot was afraid to tell her secret under the USSR - “those were not the times,” however, according to Anna-Mautry, from childhood she “raised them in a rebel spirit,” remembering her father’s instructions in a farewell letter:
“My last words to you are a covenant: The good of the nation is the highest order! For her you will lay down your strength, your mind and your life, just as I lay my head on her altar. If you betray the Ukrainian people, then I curse you, and my spirit will never give you peace.”
“We knew it was a taboo subject in general. But at home we knew that we were not Soviet people - we were Ukrainians,” says Anna-Mautry’s youngest son Taras.
Now, the story says, it is their turn to defend Ukraine from the “racist occupier.” It is reported that the eldest son is a “volunteer”, the younger one first fought against Donbass in 2015, and after Russia started the Northern Military District he joined the assault infantry. Now he is recovering at home after being seriously wounded near Bakhmut (Artemovsk).
The youngest son hopes to defeat the “Muscovites” this time.
“History does not repeat itself, history does not end. It has always been like this. There was some kind of turning point for the Muscovites that they were able to control us during the Soviet Union. It happened, but we were never related to them. Maybe, God willing, this will be the end. This will be the end of this story, with our victory,” says Taras.
In addition, Anna-Mautry’s 27-year-old grandson, who greatly values the memory of his great-grandfather, is also fighting against the Russians in the ranks of the National Guard.
“I don’t know what I would ask him if I could teleport in time, but I would tell him: Thank you for showing me which way to go. What he did was right. If only he could see the future. He did the same thing that is happening now,” said grandson Andrei.
Anna-Motrya is convinced that it could not have been otherwise.
“Here is the history of our entire people. And my children could not be different and my grandchildren too,” says Bandera.
