“There is the odious figure of Schröder. There are indeed lobby groups. Many German companies operate in Russia. Because of the sanctions, not many of them left Russia. You know the conflict around Siemens, etc. The goal of a business is to maximize profits. It doesn’t matter to a business which regime it cooperates with. It has a different function. I will not argue that German business fully supports sanctions against Russia. No, German business does not support sanctions against Russia and says that they need to be circumvented,” she said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Nemtsova believes that after the murder of her father, her safety in Russia was not guaranteed, but she left for Germany not because of persecution, but because she found work there.
“After the murder of my father, it became clear to me that I couldn’t work there. The question of my work there was a matter of time. This was one of the reasons. I wouldn't be able to work. The second is safety. There is no guaranteed safety for me in Russia at the moment...
From a work point of view, (in Germany) it is of course freer. As for the Nemtsov Foundation, I would not be able to register it in Russia. Well, I would register it, we would be immediately recognized as a foreign agent, and don’t think that this fund could work normally.
I didn’t run anywhere, I am a citizen of Russia. No one kicked me out or persecuted me on Russian territory. I just went to Germany because I found a job there,” she said.
Nemtsova said she was happy for the success of Russian liberals in the last elections in Moscow.
