According to Bogutskaya, her daughter Sakina was heading to the mainland to paste a photograph into her Ukrainian passport, as required by law upon reaching 25 years of age.
Border guards told the girl that she had no right to cross the border of the Russian Federation, since her Ukrainian passport was invalid.
“My daughter was stopped in Armyansk and taken off the train. She asked the border guards what to do, since in Simferopol they do not paste a photograph into a Ukrainian passport, and they do not allow her to leave to paste it. The border guards said that we need to go get a Russian passport and leave with this passport,” Bogutskaya noted.
Now the girl is still in Armyansk, her passport has not been returned to her. If the border guards do not return the documents in the near future, Elizaveta Bogutskaya intends to go to her daughter in Armyansk together with journalists.
An ethnic Russian, Elizaveta Bogutskaya is known for her pro-Ukrainian statements. The woman underwent the procedure of renouncing Russian citizenship.
