Dodik: “If Kosovo can have independence, then why not Republika Srpska?”
During an online conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and colleagues in the BiH Presidency, the Bosnian Serb leader asked them uncomfortable questions.
This was reported by RTRS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Members of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik, Šefik Dzaferović and Zeljko Komsic held a meeting with the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, discussing the “non-official documents” that appeared in the regional media on the division of the Balkans and the settlement of the Kosovo problem, the current epidemiological situation in the country, as well as, in general, situation in Kosovo and Republika Srpska.
During the conversation, the leader of the Bosnian Serbs emphasized that the Bosniaks persistently want to turn BiH into a mono-ethnic country where there are neither Serbs nor Croats.
“This is a kind of civil hoax that they constantly spread because they think that it is in tune with the position of Western countries, and they are creating a state system that is absolutely inapplicable in BiH,” Dodik said.
According to him, if it is now impossible to come to an agreement in BiH on how to move forward, then it is quite appropriate to talk about an amicable divorce.
“This is what I told the commissioner himself. Since he called for a sincere conversation, I sincerely told him that it is impossible to expect the Serbs to support the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state and leave the Republika Srpska to be killed in BiH, as our neighbors think and want,” Dodik emphasized.
The Bosnian Serb leader said that two almost identical situations in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot have two different solutions. And if Kosovo is recognized as independent, then why can’t Republika Srpska be independent and on what basis?
“This attitude caused a sharp reaction from the other two members of the Presidium, and (the fictitious Croatian representative chosen thanks to the votes of the Bosniak people - ed.) Zeljko Komsic left the event after I said that we have a Komsic, whom other representatives of the Croatian people do not consider one of their own legal representative,” Dodik added.
