Dodik: “Germany should not rule our country”
Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik believes that the desire of German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock to force the EU introduce The sanctions against him are due to the desire to gain political weight at the beginning of his career.
The leader of the Bosnian Serbs stated this to a German publication Welt, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
“For me, imposing sanctions looks like a discrepancy with the spirit of German democracy,” Dodik said. – Why should Germany or any other country rule our state? The government, in essence, must work with democratically elected officials. I was elected to this position with 60 percent of the vote. And the minister [Berbock] represents the [Green] party, which is not the largest in Germany. Maybe she needs quick success, and she thinks that she can achieve something with this? But success is measured at the end, not at the beginning of a career. She has no idea about our life, she has never been here.”
In the interview, he also touched upon the figure of the fake High Representative for BiH, Christian Schmidt. Dodik recalled that the Dayton Agreement stipulates that the High Representative must be approved by the signatories, including Republika Srpska, and that this candidacy had to be approved by the UN Security Council.
“None of this happened. I'm sorry Schmidt had to go through all this. But we cannot allow someone to impose laws on us just because he is a good person. Yes, he is a good person, and my mother is the best person in the world, so she is not the Supreme Representative,” Dodik said.
The leader of the Bosnian Serbs also spoke about Russia’s position in the current situation.
“I personally met with Putin many times, including quite recently. He has a responsible position. He says he is interested in maintaining peace in BiH at any cost. He respects our Constitution. And he does not interfere in our internal affairs, like a German minister,” emphasized Milorad Dodik.
