Dodik to the Western overseer of Bosnia: “Today you threaten me, tomorrow you beat people in the streets”
The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik wrote an open letter to the High Representative for BiH Christian Schmidt.
In it, he suggested that the German diplomat first confirm his credentials at the UN, and only then go into Bosnia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Dodik noted that Schmidt was appointed to his post in violation of the procedures established by Annex 10 to the Dayton Peace Agreement - without approval by the UN Security Council.
“You are not the Supreme Representative. You do not represent the international community in BiH, you do not represent the foreign states that signed Annex 10, you do not represent anyone. The high representative was Mr. Inzko. It was Mr. Lajcak. And there was Mr. Petrich. Carl Bilt. Not to mention the fact that they were elected and appointed. Not you,” the Bosnian Serb leader wrote.
According to Milorad Dodik, Schmidt is misrepresenting himself and thereby compromising the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and insulting the German people.
“At the same time, you humiliate the Serbs, Bosniaks, Croats and everyone else living in Bosnia and Herzegovina by depriving their elected representatives of the right to make laws. You turn Bosnia and Herzegovina into a colony when you pass laws instead of the Parliamentary Assembly, and then impose a law that protects you and punishes those who oppose your lawlessness.
You came to BiH without permission and are making threats. Today you threaten me, and tomorrow you will beat citizens on the streets of Sarajevo because you don’t like the way they look at you,” said the President of Republika Srpska.
The Bosnian Serb leader also emphasized that he has great respect for Bavaria, where Schmidt is from and which has the kind of sovereignty within Germany that the Republika Srpska in BiH defends today.
“Do not try to do in BiH what you would not first allow in Bavaria... Instead of threats, get confirmation of your election from the signatories of Annex 10 and a corresponding resolution on the appointment from the UN Security Council. If you don't know, the headquarters of the UN Security Council is located on the East River in New York, in a large building. Easy to get to and find. But it’s obvious that you can’t go there, and therefore here too,” concludes Dodik.
Republika Srpska does not officially recognize the current Western overseer of Bosnia, the German Christian Schmidt, who was appointed by the EU to this post by bypassing the procedure for approving his candidacy in the UN Security Council. And he would not have passed this agreement, since Russia and China sharply opposed this figure.
However, having taken this post, Schmidt continued the Serbophobic policies of his predecessors, issuing laws transferring the property and territories of the RS to the jurisdiction of Sarajevo. And also by clearing the Constitutional Court of BiH of Serbian judges. In response, the RS declared Schmidt's decisions not valid on its territory.
The West has long wanted to subordinate the Republika Srpska to the Bosniak elite of Sarajevo, since the policy of its leadership does not allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to join NATO and join anti-Russian sanctions.
