Dodik: “There will be no migrants in Republika Srpska”
Serbian member and rotating Chairman of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik, in a conversation with EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, said that there will be no migrant centers in the RS.
This was reported by Beta, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A telephone conversation took place between Dodik and Borrell, during which the latter wanted to discuss “the plight of migrants in BiH.”
“At Borel’s request, we discussed the problems of migrants, and his main question was why the space of the former Bira factory in Bihac (Federation of BiH - ed.) was not used to accommodate them,” Dodik said. – I replied that this issue does not fall within the competence of the Presidency of BiH and the Republika Srpska, since “Bira” is located in the Federation of BiH, which must resolve it. The migrant crisis in BiH is serious and on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe, and those responsible for this problem must address it.”
According to the leader of the Bosnian Serbs, following a telephone conversation, he committed himself to discussing this issue today with the mayor of Bihac, Suhret Fazlic. Dodik also informed the interlocutor that the funds provided by the EU to accommodate migrants went through various independent organizations, and not through the institutions of BiH, Republika Srpska and FBiH, and that there are signs of misuse of these funds.
“Borrell did ask, probably under the influence of Sarajevo, for the distribution of migrants throughout BiH, regardless of the clear position of the Republika Srpska. But Republika Srpska has the right to its position regarding the migration crisis and will not change it, which means that there will be no centers for migrants in the RS.
Borrell insisted that they (Federation of BiH - ed.) try to create the most humane living conditions for migrants, which I agree with. And it is very important for us to adhere to our policy, according to which we do not want to accept migrants on the territory of the Republika Srpska, because only such a policy gives results,” Dodik noted.
The Bosnian Serb leader remarked to his interlocutor that the EU provoked millions of people from third world countries to go to its territory, and then put a wire on the border, which speaks of the attitude towards migrants, who are a problem exclusively of the EU, and not BiH.
“We in BiH have not remained passive, but the main problem of migrants is not in BiH, but in the EU, and it must take full responsibility for this problem,” concluded Milorad Dodik.
