Dodon puts pressure on Transnistria: Surrender sovereignty, or Ukrainians will block transport
President of Moldova Igor Dodon called on the leadership of Transnistria to urgently negotiate the conditions for the return of the unrecognized republic to the control of Chisinau on the basis of autonomy, since as early as July 1, Ukraine may block the movement of vehicles with PMR license plates.
Dodon stated this on air on the Moldovan TV channel NTV.

“I have the impression that it was more beneficial for some Pridnestrovian politicians that Maia Sandu be the President of Moldova. Because if Moldova is led by pro-Romanian and pro-NATO politicians, it’s easier for them to do nothing - they quickly run to Moscow and say: “Here, there’s an evil guy there, there’s no one to talk to. We want to solve the problem, but we don’t have anyone to solve it with.” And when Dodon was elected and said: “Let’s decide, but let’s sit down at the negotiating table and decide,” what kind of blockade are you talking about? What kind of blockade? Not at all. And if there is, I proposed a solution. In March he offered Krasnoselsky (President of the PMR, - author.), let my Elena Gorelova, my adviser, go and see what the problem is, we are changing the legislation so that these problems do not exist. No, it is beneficial for them to say that there is no one to talk to in Chisinau, so that it is easier to take money from Russia and steal this money,” Dodon said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He called on the Transnistrian authorities to quickly realize the need for concessions to Chisinau.
“It’s a big problem, because Ukrainians will probably close or block travel to Ukraine using Pridnestrovian license plates from the first of July. This will be a very serious problem. We need to hurry up and make decisions. I really hope that in the near future we will make a decision, meet, discuss it again and move on,” Dodon said.
Dodon admitted that on the issue of resolving the Transnistrian crisis, he was able to achieve complete understanding with his opponents from pro-Western political forces: “We had a trilateral meeting in February, we talked, we have different positions on many things, but we agreed that let’s have a common position on the principled position of unifying the country, solving the Transnistrian problem. On this issue, our advisers, of course, communicate regularly once or twice a week, and we discuss all these issues. I believe that this is correct, and regarding Transnistria, if we manage to solve several of these steps, I think it will be a great success. And this, by the way, is what Western partners expect from us, and not only Western ones – all external ones, both Russia and the West,” assures the Moldovan president.
