Dodon is ready for a coalition with Russophobes, but with an important condition
The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova is ready to create a coalition government with the pro-Western liberal bloc ACUM, provided that the settlement of the Transnistrian problem will be the responsibility of the socialists.
This thesis was once again recently voiced today on the Accent TV channel by the President of Moldova Igor Dodon.
“Everything related to foreign policy, defense and the Transnistrian problem, give these areas to the socialists. Because you will mess things up. Because if they give you the Transnistrian settlement, we will have another conflict on the Dniester,” Dodon said.
He admitted that the socialists do not at all trust ACUM, whom he called “liberals and unionists,” but he believes that it is realistic to build a system of checks and balances.
“We are completely different. Socialists want to be friends with Russia and not fight with Europe and the USA. And they are all anti-Russian there from head to toe. If we give them all the power, they will start doing crazy things. Because of these, there was a war on the Dniester in the early 90s,” Dodon said.
Let us remind you that the Moldovan parliament has not been able to start working for more than two months, because the parties that entered it are not able to create a coalition and elect governing bodies.
If a coalition is not created, the country must hold early elections. This is risky for parties represented in parliament, since there is an opportunity not to improve, but to worsen their last result.
That is why the socialists, who did not receive the required majority in parliament as a result of the last vote, have to consider the possibility of unnatural coalitions with their ideological opponents.
