Dodon follows Zelensky's path
President of Moldova Igor Dodon today threatened to dissolve the national parliament.
He stated this at a briefing in Chisinau, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I appeal to all deputies elected to parliament, whose salary is 10 times higher than the average pension in the country, and urge them to form a parliamentary majority and government, or admit that their ambitions and arrogance do not allow them to find a common language, and this can lead to early parliamentary elections,” Dodon said.
He appealed to the Constitutional Court to find out when the three months expire, after which grounds for dissolving parliament appear: after March 9 or 21.
“Most likely, we have only two weeks left until June 7, and if during this time the deputies do not come to a consensus and create a parliamentary majority, I will be forced to dissolve the Parliament, and all responsibility will fall on the deputies during the early parliamentary elections. The time has come!” said the Moldovan president.
According to the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in Moldova in February, Dodon’s socialists gained 35 mandates, oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc’s democrats - 30, and the pro-European ACUM bloc - 26. The socialists and the ACUM bloc are negotiating to create a coalition, but to no avail.
Let us remind you that in Ukraine President Zelensky issued a decree on early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which will take place on July 21.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian parliament responded to Zelensky with a demarche.
