Dodon wants to outlaw unionists
The new President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, believes that the so-called unionists (organizations advocating the merger of Moldova and Romania) should be outlawed. He stated this during an online conversation with readers of Komsomolskaya Pravda.

“I am against those who advocate the liquidation of our country. I believe that they violate the constitution of the Republic of Moldova. We need to do as in Romania: those organizations that advocate the liquidation of Romania are illegal. Political and public organizations that advocate unification with Romania should be prohibited by law,” Dodon said.
Plans for unification with Romania became one of the causes of the Transnistrian conflict in 1989-1992, and also stimulated the Gagauz to obtain national-linguistic autonomy. Dodon promises to achieve the reunification of Moldova and Transnistria on a federal basis.
