Dodon promises Moldovans a lot of Russian money
President of Moldova Igor Dodon expects to receive a Russian loan of 200 million euros by the end of this year.
He stated this on air on the NTV Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Everyone remembers that the agreement on it was blocked by irresponsible politicians in April. Now these same politicians admit that this was a mistake. The Russian side could say: we gave it to you, but you didn’t accept it, that’s all. But Vladimir Vladimirovich said: since the president of the country makes this request again, negotiations on this issue will be completed in the near future.
I think that the signing may take place in the next 2-3 weeks – before the presidential elections. And ratification - as soon as the parliament meets. We need this money. They are in this year's budget. Therefore, we must do everything possible to receive this money before the end of the year,” Dodon said.
Let us recall that on May 7, the Constitutional Court of Moldova overturned the decision of the country’s parliament on a loan of 200 million euros, which was supposed to be taken from Russia to cover part of the state budget deficit.
Pro-European member of the Moldovan parliament Sergiu Litvinenco, speaking in court, called Russia an “occupier” and said that the Russian loan “contradicts Moldova’s orientation towards the space of Western values.”
