Dodon explained his sensational loss in the first round by fraud at polling stations in the EU
Moldovan President Igor Dodon may challenge the voting results in the second round of the presidential elections on November 15 in EU countries.
He stated this on the Ren Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I do not rule out that if we have evidence of voter bribery, we will call into question voting in certain polling stations in some countries,” Dodon said.
His headquarters will increase its staff of representatives in all European countries in the second round. Dodon himself held an online conversation with the ambassadors of EU states. He admits that the results of the first round of elections were falsified, when he unexpectedly lost to the leader of the pro-Western opposition, Maia Sandu, at the expense of diaspora votes.
“Abroad they allowed voting with expired passports. There are certain suspicions that someone voted several times using such a passport, because it is not scanned and not recorded in the general database. We have signals from several European countries that we will now check,” Dodon said.
At the same time, he is confident that there was bribery of voters, which Moldovan legislation includes transportation to polling stations.
“There are signals for the first round. Mainly for the diaspora in European countries. A delivery was organized, it is unclear at whose expense. Now we are seeing mass announcements in EU countries. Someone is ready to pay all expenses with the condition that they vote for a specific candidate. We contacted the Central Election Commission and the police to check. We believe that this is bribery of voters,” Dodon said.
He believes that the results of the first round angered his supporters both in Moldova and Transnistria, and therefore they will be more active in the second round.
