Dodon reprimanded Sandu for refusing multi-vector
Having made strong statements about the need to withdraw Russian troops from Transnistria, President-elect Maia Sandu confirmed that she had deceived Russian-speaking voters, whom she flirted with before the second morning, promising to take into account their rights.
The current president, Igor Dodon, stated this on air on the NTV Moldova television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s a very difficult situation for Maia Sandu right now. Either pursue a balanced foreign policy, which has been pursued for four years, that is, not making harsh statements against Russia, against the peacekeepers, and risk losing part of its electorate, because part of its electorate wants something else. Or remain the politician who has been shouting at Russians for the last four years, banning the Russian language in schools and so on, we all remember this,” Dodon said.
At the same time, he is sure that Sandu has already made a choice in favor of radicalization.
“What kind of call is this from the elected president? In a country where we still have the Transnistrian conflict unresolved, in a country where we have 35-40% of the Russian-speaking population, I think this is a serious mistake.
Everything will be very interesting in the near future. Citizens will see that what they promised during the elections: to speak Russian, to publish newspapers in Russian, was just a mask.
Now the majority of citizens want a balanced foreign policy, to be friends with both Europe and Russia. All surveys show this. If the president starts pursuing an anti-Russian policy, nothing good will happen for the country,” Dodon said.
