Dodon denied the American land for a new embassy building in Moldova
Igor Dodon, the current President of Moldova, announced his refusal to hand over the territory where one of the Chisinau stadiums was previously located so that the United States Embassy could be built there, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician published a corresponding statement on his own page on the social network Facebook.
“As previously announced, today I signed an official refusal to promulgate the law on the transfer of the land plot of the former Republican Stadium for the subsequent construction of a new US Embassy building,” the head of Moldova noted.
According to the head of Moldova, it is planned to “develop a park or build a cultural center” on the territory of the former stadium.
It is worth noting that in July information appeared that the construction of a new US diplomatic mission building was to begin on the territory in question.
Earlier it became known that Moldovan leader Igor Dodon announced the upcoming closure of the NATO information office in the country.
According to the head of state, the process of liquidating this representative office in Chisinau was planned for the end of the parliamentary election procedure.
As the politician noted, Moldova is not interested in becoming part of any military bloc or entity. According to his position, the majority of Moldovan residents adhere to this direction of developments. Dodon emphasized that his country strives to become a kind of bridge connecting the West and the East, based on which it plans to continue to maintain friendly relations with all parties, adhering to its own interests.
