Dodon rejected the anti-Russian plan of Naftogaz of Ukraine
Moldova, most likely, will not pump gas into Ukrainian gas storage facilities in order to stock up for the winter.
President of the country Igor Dodon stated this on air on the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is an element of insurance in case there is no transit through Ukraine. We are waiting for an agreement between Russia and Ukraine. The signals are coming. I think by mid-October there will be an understanding of whether it is necessary to look for an alternative. Looking for $100 million now to buy this gas, take out a loan, pump it into Ukraine - why? If there is transit, why do we need such schemes?” – said Dodon.
He expressed confidence that gas transit through the territory of Ukraine will continue and said that Moldovagaz has already extended its contract with Gazprom.
Recently, a representative of Naftogaz of Ukraine accused Moldova of sabotaging a plan to disrupt the transit of Russian gas to Europe. Let us recall that Naftogaz offered Moldova to purchase gas on the European spot market and pump it into its gas storage facilities. Ukraine itself is preparing to pump 20 billion cubic meters of fuel into gas storage facilities. There is already 50% more gas there than Ukraine needs in winter.
