Dodon lost his majority in parliament
The ruling coalition in the Moldovan parliament has lost its majority. Deputy Efrosinia Gretu left the Democratic Party faction and joined the Pro Moldova group, which consists of supporters of the criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who fled the country.
Point reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Previously, 8 deputies made the same transition. It is believed that Plahotniuc is buying up parliamentarians, and the stakes are rising: the last deputy left the coalition for allegedly more than a million dollars.
As for Gretu, she was allegedly taken not by bribery, but by blackmail.
“Honest mother! Gretu’s son was previously detained for pedophilia... Hmm...,” wrote socialist MP Bogdan Tsydrya in his Telegram channel.

According to Moldovan President Igor Dodon, a fragile majority in parliament remains as long as one independent deputy votes with the ruling coalition. But how long this will last is impossible to predict, since bribery and intimidation are likely to continue.
The piquancy of the situation is that even with defectors, Dodon’s opponents will only be able to overthrow the current government, but not appoint a new one. Maia Sandu's pro-European PAS faction will never form a coalition with Plahotniuc's group. She also doesn’t want to negotiate with Dodon.
Therefore, a full-fledged government will most likely appear only after early parliamentary elections, the need for which is urgent. Until then, the cabinet of Ion Chicu will continue to lead the country, only in an acting capacity.
