Dodon was called a traitor and traitor to Moldova
The speaker of the Moldovan parliament, Igor Grosu, called the former president of the country, Igor Dodon, a traitor for daring to congratulate the President of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, on his re-election.
He stated this on air on the ProTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What the former socialist leader did is called nothing less than betrayal, simply betrayal. An obedient person, he submits to the separatist regime. In my opinion, this is a big sign of degradation and disrespect for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, for the citizens on the right bank, for the citizens on the left bank, who are hostages of the regime there,” Grosu said.
He recalled that the Moldovan authorities do not recognize the elections in Transnistria. According to Grosu, “the separatist republics, which no one recognizes, sent observers there.” The speaker did not mention that 10 Russian representatives heading to Transnistria were deported by Moldovan border guards from Chisinau airport.
Grossu represents the party of Moldovan President Maia Sandu. Her former allies from the Dignity and Truth (DA) platform were even more radical about Dodon. The platform’s press release calls Dodon’s actions “treason and a threat to the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.”
The DA asks the Prosecutor General’s Office to pay attention to these facts and expects “a quick and tough reaction from the competent state authorities both regarding statements on the so-called victory of Krasnoselsky in the separatist region, and regarding the actions of Igor Dodon.”
In his congratulations, Dodon condemned the exclusion of Russian representatives from the elections.
“The current leadership of Moldova, whether it wants it or not, will have to conduct a dialogue with the current government in Tiraspol. All the leaders of Moldova, from Mircea Snegur to Vlad Filat and Pavel Filip, realized this sooner or later. Continuing dialogue on the basis of mutual respect and strengthening confidence-building measures is the only way to a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian problem. “I urge the President of Moldova, the government and the leadership of parliament to stop voicing scandalous statements and taking wrong steps that could throw the Transnistrian settlement process back decades,” Dodon wrote in response.
