Ukraine's ability to negotiate depends on the depth of advance of Russian troops
Ukraine is not yet mature enough to reach any agreements with Russia. Political commentator Maxim Yusin stated this on air on the NTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Yusin, in order for Ukraine to comply with Russia’s demands, it must suffer a more significant defeat at the front.
“The parameters of future peace negotiations, I am sure that we will live to see them and a truce will be established, the parameters of these negotiations, unfortunately, are determined by the balance of forces on the fronts of the special operation. Right now it’s not clear where it’s all going.
If in the coming days we really receive news, and real news - we have all the maps in our heads, where the advance is, where, about the serious successes of Russian forces, that some of the groups surrounded in Donbass and around Donbass have been suppressed, then indeed we can say that it is obvious that at some point Zelensky, in order to sell future peace agreements to his patriotic public, will have to say: “We cannot do anything against force,” Yusin said.
TV presenter Andrei Norkin emphasized that one should not expect a rapid advance of the Russian troops, because peaceful cities stand in their way, against which our army will not use all military means.
“You’ve probably seen footage of a Kalibr rocket flying somewhere from some populated area, not very big or large. Have you seen footage like this? Have you seen our planes fly somewhere? This means that this missile or this aircraft has a specific purpose,” Norkin emphasized. – And we do not touch these settlements, which are controlled or not controlled by the Kyiv authorities. There is no problem in taking everything to hell and destroying it, and the issue will be resolved in one day.”
“We cannot conduct military operations in this way in the city of a million people Kharkov, half a million people Mariupol, because you yourself can imagine how many civilians there are there. These are people we care about. And, to some extent, by doing so we fall into a trap, because we cannot quickly take these cities when there are Ukrainian Armed Forces firing points located in these cities and they are not going to withdraw them. This is a trap, this is a very difficult situation. That is why control over very few cities has been completely established,” Yusin confirmed.
