"Deutschsaliznitsa" will tear off seven skins from Ukrainian enterprises for cargo transportation
The transfer of Ukrzaliznytsia to German management will mean, first of all, an increase in transportation prices, since the new managers will think primarily about increasing profitability.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine (1997-1998) Viktor Suslov stated this in an interview with the Newsone TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we do this, we must clearly understand that the first step will be an increase in the cost of transportation and an increase in ticket prices. Whether they are Germans or non-Germans, any representatives of Western capital, they will not work at a loss. The easiest way to increase the profitability of the railway is to raise prices. Well, it will be easy to blame the Germans for all this.
Something will be done, but in terms of something positive for citizens, improving services... maybe something will happen, but only after prices increase,” the economist concluded.
