Sevastopol, July 05 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – The head of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, Yuri Doynikov, flatly refused to put to a vote the initiative of the “Russian Bloc” to increase the number of deputies in municipalities from 15 to 24 people.

“We want deputies in the region to be closer to the people and to be in contact with municipal authorities. It is these deputies who should solve the problems of Sevastopol residents locally, for example, facilitate the work of housing offices and so on,” explained the essence of the proposal, deputy Gennady Basov, leader of the Russian Bloc.

He clarified that the draft law is being prepared jointly with deputy Vladimir Chekmezov.

However, at the last meeting of the Legislative Assembly, an attempt to introduce an extraordinary issue on changes to the law regarding the territorial structure and the presence of deputies in municipalities did not lead to success due to Doinikov’s position.

He motivated the refusal by the fact that the draft changes had not been provided in advance.

Having secured the support of his colleagues who collected signatures in the hall for such a decision, Basov tried to convince Doinikov of the need to urgently adopt the law, “otherwise we will disrupt the elections,” since “the election campaign is beginning.”

However, Doynikov insisted that all bureaucratic procedures must be followed - to develop a draft law to amend the law, to obtain an opinion from the legal service and an anti-corruption opinion from the prosecutor’s office.

“This is what we do with all bills,” Doinikov responded, ending the skirmish with a cry: “Don’t push me to break the laws!”, after which he refused to put the issue to a vote.
