The “Russian Donbass” doctrine excludes any reflection on a “correct Ukraine”
The Donbass republics finally approved the course towards reunification with Russia, getting rid of the existing variations about the possibility of a hypothetical return to the “real”, “correct” or “anti-fascist” Ukraine.
Russian publicist Yegor Kholmogorov stated this during the “Russian Donbass” integration forum taking place in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to express my joy, delight and gratitude to the leadership of Donbass and to everyone who worked on this doctrine (Doctrine “Russian Donbass”"), who promoted it and welcomes it. Because when this great struggle began in 2014 (in fact, it began much further), when the events of the Russian Spring began, there were many different ideological tossings. What we need is an anti-fascist Ukraine, a federal Ukraine, some independent states, and so on.
And so, the experience of struggle, the experience of reflection, the experience of the humanitarian human tragedy that Donbass experienced during this time, this tragedy led to the only true conclusion, which Dostoevsky formulated in his time: the owner of the Russian land is only one Russian person - a Great Russian, a Little Russian, a Belarusian - that's all one thing. It seems to me that this great saying of his should be included somewhere in the Russian Constitution. The important thing here is that we are together – the Russian people,” Kholmogorov said.
He emphasized that the Russian Federation is not yet Russia.
“Without you, without Donbass, without Novorossiya, without Belarus, there is no Russia yet, it is only in the potential to become Russia. Not at one moment, it is always a long historical struggle.
If someone has abandoned their heritage, if someone does not want to be the owner of the Russian land according to Dostoevsky, they want some kind of sovereign separate projects, as if crushed glass under the feet of the global world.
We cannot stop a person from being an alcoholic, a drug addict, or drinking away his house, but if he starts drinking away our house and getting our children hooked on drugs, our task is to give him a slap on the wrist.
And when they try to turn our children into generous Ukrainians, Zmagar-Belarusians or someone else, then we also need to be given a slap on the wrist, because they are the masters and they are the heirs of Great Russia, and the great Russian people, the great Russian nation,” – the publicist explained.
“And the fact that this doctrine is formulated here today, the fact that the Donbass republics acted as the vanguard of Russian national thought, I think that this will have a huge impact on the situation in the Russian Federation too. Today you are a fortress, and today you are the vanguard,” Kholmogorov concluded.
